Eastern Europe · Direct-from-Producer Supply
Your Wine Supplier in Eastern Europe
Aproape is a family winery in Codru, Moldova — one of Eastern Europe's most compelling wine origins. We supply importers, distributors, and HoReCa buyers across Europe with traceable, estate-grown wines at competitive ex-cellar prices.
Why Eastern Europe? Why Moldova?
Moldova sits at the heart of Eastern Europe's winemaking belt — a region with thousands of years of viticultural history, a unique continental climate, and extraordinary value for quality.
The Codru sub-region, where Aproape is located, occupies the country's highest ground — rolling hills covered in ancient forests, with a cool growing season that extends ripening and builds natural acidity. The result is wines of genuine finesse: structured, aromatic, and distinctly different from Western European styles. For buyers building a diverse portfolio, Codru wines offer something no Burgundy or Barolo can provide.
Moldova's winemaking tradition dates back over 5,000 years, yet the country's commercial wine industry remains under-explored in Western markets. That gap is an opportunity. Early adopters among importers and distributors are building strong positions in the Moldovan category before the broader market catches on. As a small-production estate, Aproape offers the added advantage of genuine scarcity — a story that sells itself.
-
Codru highland terroir — cool nights, ancient soils, extended ripening season
-
Indigenous and international varieties — Feteasca Alba, Viorica, Rara Neagra, and more
-
Outstanding price-quality ratio — estate wines at a fraction of comparable Western benchmarks
-
Full vine-to-bottle traceability — single estate, single family, no blending across sources
Supply Capabilities
As a focused estate producer, Aproape operates a structured allocation model. Here is what trade buyers can realistically plan for.
- 8+
Active SKUs across white, red, and sparkling
- 75 cl
Standard bottle format; 1.5 L magnums on request
- 5–10 d
Road freight lead time to Western Europe
- 504 btl
Minimum order — one standard pallet (42 cases)
Our supply programme is allocation-based to protect quality and consistency. Annual production volumes are finite, and we commit capacity to partners in advance of each harvest season. Buyers who join the programme early secure the best allocation. Mixed-SKU pallets are available for introductory orders; container volumes are available for established partners.
All wines are bottled at the estate in Hirova. We do not purchase grapes or wine from third-party sources — every bottle carries the full provenance story of Codru terroir. Documentation for each shipment includes the standard EU/UK import package: Certificate of Analysis, Health Certificate, VI-1 document, EUR.1 certificate of origin, and commercial invoice with packing list.
Logistics Advantages
Sourcing from Moldova is operationally straightforward. Here is what makes Aproape a reliable Eastern European supply partner.
-
EU market access via DCFTA — zero-tariff entry for Moldovan wine into the EU since 2016
-
Road freight in 5–10 days to Western Europe — established groupage and full-load routes via Romania
-
Complete export documentation prepared in-house — VI-1, EUR.1, health certificate, analysis certificate
-
Temperature-controlled transport available — reefer trucks for sensitive seasons and long-distance routes
We work with a small network of trusted freight forwarders with specific experience in Moldovan wine exports. For buyers arranging their own logistics, we provide all necessary export documentation and cooperate fully with customs agents and warehousing partners. Incoterm options include EXW (ex-cellar Hirova), DAP (delivered to your warehouse), and CPT/CIP for container orders. First-time buyers typically begin with DAP for a simpler, landed-cost calculation.
Partnership Opportunities
We work with three principal buyer types. Each relationship is structured to match the buyer's market position and commercial needs.
-
Importers
Exclusive or non-exclusive import rights by country. Annual allocation agreement. Full documentation support, co-branded materials available, producer participation in key launch events.
-
Distributors
Regional or national distribution agreements. Flexible container or pallet ordering. Dedicated tech sheets, price lists, and tasting samples. Annual planning reviews to align allocation with your sales targets.
-
HoReCa Buyers
Direct supply for restaurants, hotels, and wine bars. Pallet-level minimum orders. Sommelier-ready documentation: tasting notes, food pairing guides, producer story for wine list presentation.
We are open to conversations with any serious trade buyer, regardless of market size. If you are a single-outlet restaurant looking to feature one Codru wine on your list, or a national importer looking to build a Moldova category from scratch — reach out. We are selective about partnerships, but not precious about scale. The right fit matters more than the volume.
