Winery Overview

Aproape is a family-owned estate winery located in Hirova, in the Codru wine region of central Moldova. Founded on the belief that great wine begins in the vineyard, we farm 12 hectares of estate vines at elevations between 280 and 340 metres above sea level — a site that delivers cool nights, long autumns, and exceptional natural acidity.

The winery takes its name from the Romanian word for 'close' — close to the land, close to the people, close to the wine. Every decision, from vine management to bottling, is made by the family. We do not source grapes externally. We do not blend from other estates. What leaves our cellar is the unmediated expression of a single place.

Codru is Moldova's highest and most distinctive wine region — rolling hills, ancient forests, and a cool continental climate that produces wines of exceptional finesse. Understanding the terroir is the first step to selling it.

Production Capacity

Our estate is deliberately small. Limited production guarantees consistent quality and personal attention to every order.

Annual production is capped to protect quality. We work with importers on allocation-based agreements, with priority given to long-term partners. Minimum order quantities start at one pallet (504 bottles / 42 cases). Full container orders are available for established partners.

Production Methods

Our winemaking is built on restraint. The cellar exists to preserve what the vineyard creates — not to transform it.

  • Hand harvest, sorted in the vineyard

  • Gravity-flow cellar — no pumping

  • Ageing in used French oak and inert vessel

  • Minimal sulphur addition, no fining
